Sterling Surveyors
Since 1992, The Florida Sterling Council has assisted organizations
in utilizing proven standards of excellence as a guide
to making improvements that generate better operations,
customer value, and overall results. We are proud to

Baldrige Surveyors
The Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence provide
a systems perspective for understanding performance management.
They reflect validated, leading-edge management practices
against which an organization can measure itself. With
their acceptance nationally and internationally as the
model for performance excellence, the Criteria represent
a common language for communication among organizations
for sharing best practices. The Criteria are also the basis
for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award process.

AAAHC Surveyors
The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care,
or AAAHC, is a private, non-profit organization formed
in 1979 to assist ambulatory health care organizations
improve the quality of care provided to patients. Having
accredited over 3800 organizations, AAAHC prides itself
on its peer-based survey process, which utilizes experienced,
practicing health care professionals in the accreditation

2008 Circle of Life Winner
The Circle of Life Award, a national award sponsored
by the American Hospital Association, honors innovation
and excellence in palliative and end-of-life care.
Three organizations received this prestigious award
for 2008. We are proud to announce one of them
is a Florida based organization and member of
FAHQ.
FAHQ congratulates Haven Hospice, serving 17 counties
in northern Florida, on receiving the 2008 Circle
of Life national award.
2008 Governor’s Sterling Award Winner
The Sterling Award, based on the Malcolm Baldrige
National Quality criteria, promotes quality awareness,
recognizes quality achievements of Florida organizations,
and provides a vehicle for sharing successful strategies.
The award encompasses seven areas of achievement
in quality standards. We are delighted to recognize
the achievements of member Shands HealthCare, a 2008
Governor’s Sterling Award Winner.
NCQA’s 2008 “Recognizing Innovation
in Multicultural Health Care Award”
The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)
has recognized eight managed care plans for innovative
programs aimed at improving health care for African
Americans, Hispanics, Asians and other ethnic groups.
All managed care plans in the nation are eligible
for this award. We congratulate our member UnitedHealthcare on this exceptional achievement.
Nursing Magnet Status
The Magnet Recognition Program® was developed
by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
to recognize health care organizations that provide
nursing excellence
in the areas of quality patient care and innovation in nursing practice. Less
than one percent of acute care hospitals in the country hold Magnet Status.
