The theme of our 2014 Conference is Collaboration and Innovation. It is about building collaborative relationships with all healthcare partners including the Board of Directors, Providers, and Patients.  It is about unleashing the force of innovation by looking beyond traditional methods to improve the quality of healthcare across a variety of healthcare settings such as physician offices, hospitals, and community organizations. 

The Conference is hosting a mix of invited and ‘selected’ speakers (‘selected’ from our Call for Abstracts), to help provide sufficient breadth and depth of information on issues facing us now and in the future. The opening Keynote speaker shares expertise with the Affordable Care Act to address quality provisions, the delivery system, reform and coverage. Additional session topics include engaging physicians in quality to better serve patients in more cost-effective models; innovative approaches to IT; an integrated framework for quality, patient safety and value to prepare the ever-changing role of the quality professional to meet future challenges; and one organization’s experience using alternate accrediting bodies.  The closing Keynote speaker brings years of experience working with multi-generational healthcare workers providing participants with an interactive learning session for improving patient outcomes.  

We are delighted to offer our first-ever Poster Session that will feature an array of presentation topics which highlight evidence-based practices, performance improvement projects and research studies, from a variety of healthcare settings.  This innovative session provides learning and networking opportunities to collaborate with your colleagues. Be sure to congratulate the inaugural poster presenters for being part of this new and exciting addition to the FAHQ Annual Conference.

Pre-Conference Programs
We are pleased to announce that we will present the CPHQ Review Course. This course serves as both a preparation session for healthcare professionals who are studying for the Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) exam, and as an update for those already certified who wish to expand their quality management skills and knowledge base. The program will be held the afternoon of April 28 and continue all day April 29th. 11.5 CE credits will be awarded for those seeking recertification of their CPHQ.

We are excited to offer two practical, half-day pre-conference workshops on April 29.

Workshop 1: Quality Basics: Using Teams and Data for Performance Improvement - 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
If you are new to the field, have recently expanded your role in healthcare quality, or want to learn more from a data expert; join this high energy, hands-on workshop to get you ready to unleash Your Force for quality healthcare.  Content and activities will emphasize the use of high-performing teams and effective measurement in process improvement.  Professionals from all practice sites are welcome as we work together to learn this core content so important to our improvement practice.

Workshop 2: First, Protect the Patient from Harm by Applying Adult Learning Principles to Patient Safety – 1:00 - 5:00 PM
This workshop explores new concepts and applications in changing the behavior of healthcare providers to ensure patient safety.  For example, attendees will discover how human factors have been employed to promote safety and how the application of National Patient Safety Goals to common areas can extend their usefulness in unforeseen situations.  The attendee will learn the characteristics of effective adult learning and the importance of active learning.  Learning methods include role play, problem-solving scenarios, stories, critical thinking challenges and more.

Conference Site
Our Conference is being held at The Westin Lake Mary, Orlando North. The Westin Lake Mary is a beautiful new property that is conveniently located in Central Florida off I-4; near the 417 interchange. Special Features
We have a host of special activities planned for this year’s conference.  They include:

CPHQs:  Wear your pin, get a free raffle ticket!
To honor attainment of the CPHQ designation, any members wearing their CPHQ pin to the Conference will be provided one free ticket to our much coveted raffle.  Proceeds of our Fabulous Raffle go to support the Healthcare Quality Foundation.   If you wish to donate a prize for this great cause, please contact Jeanette Wilkinson at Jeanette3082@aol.com

Comfort the Kids Teddy Bear Drive
FAHQ is holding a Teddy Bear Drive to support First Responders at the City of Lake Mary Fire Department.  All registrants bringing and donating a medium-sized (12 - 14 inches), brand new teddy bear will be entered into a drawing for a free registration to the 2015 Conference.  You will receive one entry into the contest for each teddy bear donated.  Bears must have short hair, be all plush, and have no bead filling, no hard plastic heads, no motors, amplifiers or batteries, and should still have the manufacturers tags attached.

President's Reception (Wednesday)
Networking is a great part of the Conference experience, and there is ample opportunity for this! One such opportunity occurs Wednesday evening, following our educational session. The FAHQ Board invites all Conference participants to the President's Reception. This is a chance for networking with your colleagues and having some fun at the end of a productive day. Drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and a lovely selection of hors d'oeuvres will be served and our Fabulous Raffle will be held.

Passport Drawing
All registrants will receive a blank "passport" to be stamped as you visit our different Exhibitors. People getting their passport fully stamped are entered into a drawing (one entry per person) for a $50 gift card. 

Pre-Conference Networking Luncheon (Tuesday)
We are holding a special networking luncheon for those attending the CPHQ Review Course or BOTH pre-conference workshops. This is an excellent opportunity to meet and network with your colleagues and our Conference Exhibitors. No special registration is necessary if you meet the above criteria. If you are registering for only one pre-conference workshop, but would like to attend the luncheon, the fee is $35 and must be paid by check. Registration for the luncheon must be completed by April 7th.

Conference Networking Breakfast (Thursday)
Everyone registered for the FAHQ Annual Conference (April 30 – May 1) is invited to attend a Networking Breakfast on Thursday morning. This is a hearty, sit-down breakfast, where you can network with other attendees to create or further develop professional relationships.
