Orlando, Florida

Download the Conference Brochure

The theme of our 2013 Conference is building connections and collaboration, focusing on issues from the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which outlines federal requirements for changing the healthcare system, and along with that, how healthcare quality is measured and achieved.

Using the framework provided in the ACA, the Conference is hosting a mix of invited and 'selected' speakers ('selected' from our Call for Abstracts), to help provide sufficient breadth and depth of information on issues facing us now and in the future. Change will be coming at a rapid pace over the next two years. Our goal is to provide information on key issues by experts in the field, followed by presentations which showcase successful practices which have improved the quality or efficiency of patient care in areas related to ACA requirements. Topics include The ACA: Developing New Models of Healthcare, presentations on several of the models being developed and tested, collaborative efforts with IT and with health plans, reducing readmissions, engaging physicians in quality and telehealth. Day one ends with a panel discussion by two content experts, who will discuss new skills and approaches quality professionals will want to develop or hone in order to be of greatest value as these new models evolve. The program goal is to help attendees understand and prepare for the changes to come, while learning of best practices reflecting current and future requirements in healthcare quality and patient safety.

Pre-Conference Programs

We are pleased to announce that we will present the newly designed CPHQ Review Course, re-flecting the new content of the exam which went into effect January 2013. This course serves as both a preparation session for healthcare professionals who are studying for the Certi-fied Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) exam, and as an update for those already certified who wish to expand their quality management skills and knowledge base. The program will be held the afternoon of April 23 and continue all day April 24. 11.5 CE credits will be awarded for those seeking recertification of their CPHQ.

Workshops

We are excited to offer two practical, half-day pre-conference workshops on April 24

Workshop 1: Essential Quality Tools: RCA and FMEA - 8:00 AM - 12:00

This workshop is devoted to two essential quality tools: Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). The workshop will provide both didactic and interactive com-ponents, using healthcare examples and small group activities. This hands-on session will allow you to put these techniques to work in your organization to help improve patient safety and meet regulatory standards.

Workshop 2: Data Management For Decision Making: Facilitating Quality - 1:00 - 5:00 PM

The goal of this workshop is to help attendees manage the "data deluge" they are currently facing, and un-derstand how to change data into actionable information. Attendees will learn about data management, ways to evaluate data when multiple variables (or multiple related projects) are at play, support tools and systems, and how to integrate IT. This workshop will provide a hands on experience to build practical skills.
