The theme of our 2012 Conference is “Embracing the Future” focusing on issues from the National Strategy for Quality Improvement in Health Care, which outlines federal expectations in healthcare quality and the shared goals of all federal agencies in this arena.
Using the framework provided in the National Strategy for Quality Improvement in Health Care, the Conference is hosting a mix of invited and ‘selected’ speakers (‘selected’ from our Call for Abstracts), to help provide sufficient breadth and depth of information on issues facing us now and in the future. Our goal is to provide information on key issues by experts in the field, followed by presentations which showcase successful practices which have improved the quality or efficiency of patient care in these same areas. Topics include The National Strategy, reducing readmissions, reducing the impact of cardiovascular diseases, HACs, meaningful use, patient and family centered care, how hospitals are addressing the National Strategy, physician quality reporting and the quality dashboard of the future. The program goal is to help attendees embrace the future of healthcare quality and lead the way!
Pre-Conference Programs
We are pleased to announce that we will again offer the CPHQ Review Course during this event. This course serves as both a preparation session for healthcare professionals who are studying for the Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) exam and as an update for those already certified who wish to expand their quality management skills and knowledge base. The program will be held May 1 and 2, and provide 11.5 CE credits for those seeking recertification of their CPHQ.
Workshops
We are excited to offer two practical, half-day workshops as our pre-conference program on May 2
TJC and AAAHC Present: Accreditation Update – Most Challenging & New Accreditation Standards
This workshop will provide an opportunity for attendees to learn about new accreditation standards for hospitals and ambulatory settings, and will also delve into the most challenging accreditation standards. A staff member from The Joint Commission will present for 3 hours, followed by a speaker from AAAHC for the next hour. This will be an exceptional opportunity to learn about standards across transitions in care from hospital to OP settings. Pat Adamski, MS, MBA, Director, Standards Interpretation Division of Healthcare Improvement for The Joint Commission and Karen Connolly, RN, from AAAHC will be the presenters for this workshop.
Achieving Improved Financials, Patient, Guest and Team Member Satisfaction Through a Lean approach to Identifying Waste in the Workplace
Where does most of your organization’s dissatisfaction come from? Poorly designed processes which result in a perception of not having enough time, staff, or money to perform our job. A Lean approach teaches us to identify Waste – those non-value added activities that consume resources, but DO NOT contribute to the healthcare service being provided. Nor does the customer want to pay for these activities. This workshop will provide you the opportunity to join in an interactive session to apply Lean tools to a process, identify and eliminate waste in that process, then to measure the time savings in the redesign. This hands-on session is designed to allow you to put these techniques to work in your organization.
